Downgrade Miui Without Unlock Bootloader

Introduction

If you're a fan of MIUI, then there's a good chance that you've been tempted to try out some of the older versions. Maybe you'd like to go back to an early version of the ROM, or perhaps something more recent just doesn't work as well as it did when it first came out? If this is true for you, then fear not! I'm here to help show how easy it is to downgrade without unlocking your bootloader.

Download the fastboot ROM of your choice.

Download the fastboot ROM of your choice. Fastboot ROMs are available for most devices. They are compressed, so they are easier to download and install than recovery ROMs.

Get into Fastboot mode.

To get into fastboot mode, you need to power off your device and then press and hold the volume down button while pressing the power button. You will see different options on the screen. Select “Recovery Mode” or “Fastboot Mode” with either of the keys in order to enter one of these two modes.

Open MiFlash tool and make a backup of your current ROM to a folder on your PC.

Once MiFlash is open and running, click "Refresh" or wait for it to detect your device in Fastboot mode.

In the bottom-right corner of the window, click Browse and locate the backup folder you created earlier.

In the top-left corner of the window, make sure that only Fastboot mode is selected from the dropdown menu next to "Search."

Click OK when done.

In MiFlash, click "Refresh" or wait for it to detect your device in Fastboot mode.

  • Flash MIUI to downgrade without unlock bootloader

  • Once it's finished, tap on "Refresh" or wait for it to detect your device in Fastboot mode.

  • Click the Browse button next to the partition you want to flash and select the backup that you created earlier.

Click "Browse" and locate the backup folder you created earlier.

Click “Browse” and locate the backup folder you created earlier. The backup file must be in the same location as your MiFlash tool.

Click "OK".

  • Once your device reboots, open the Mi App Store.

  • Go to Settings and select About Phone.

  • Find Build Number and tap it 7 times to enable Developer Options.

  • Go back to Settings and select Additional Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging. You may need to re-enter your device’s PIN or password if you have one set up in order to access Developer Options.

Once the flashing process is completed, reboot your device.

Once the flashing process is completed, reboot your device. Don't forget to do this. You don't want to damage your phone by performing any other actions on it until it has rebooted. Also, don't turn off your device or disconnect it from your computer until the process is complete.

Downgrade without unlocking bootloader

Downgrading without unlocking the bootloader is possible, but it is not supported by all devices. Downgrading is a process of going back to an older version of the software. It can be done by installing the older firmware using fastboot commands.

However, this method may not work for every device as not all Android phones support downgrading (or upgrading). If you are using AOSP based ROM and want to install MIUI ROM on your phone then you will have to unlock bootloader first.

If you never unlocked your Android device’s bootloader before then don’t worry! This guide will help you do it easily and safely in just a few simple steps:

Conclusion

That’s all there is to it! You should now have a downgraded version of MIUI installed on your phone. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below.
